Same way as you would a normal release? Download Prerelease package and follow readme installation instructions.

Or you can just use main repo branch that may include newer commits. If you use Windows 11 and have virtualization enabled then you can also try my automatic installation script that just clones repo and installs it in WSL2-ubuntu docker - only with Nvidia support.

you edited some files the webui-user.bat and .gitignore
it's asking if you want to bring those changed files when you switch branch
in this case yes you will want to bring your change files because you want to use the same edited configurations (webui-user.bat) in the switched branch

In comparison to v1.3.2, v1.4.0-RC utilizes approximately 1GiB more VRAM while on standby after launching the Web UI. As a result, users with GPUs that have less VRAM may experience CUDA out-of-memory errors more frequently.

Those were my exact thoughts when I read this.

If I remove the change, I idle at 3.3GB, but it shoots back up to 3.6GB as soon as I generate an image. You might want to see what v1.3.2 idles at after you generate an image on your system.

I'm on a GTX 1660 Ti 6GB and with 1.3.2 I can generate up to 1024x images using --medvram --xformers but on 1.4 RC I can't even generate 512x without getting OOM error :/

i got the following error message that related to dynamic prompt extension and tile diffusion extension. Not such error in using 1.3.2. Not sure if that is the extension's problem? or the 1.4.0-RC's problem.

I don't use dynamic prompt I can't say anything about that
all I can say is that the latest version of multidiffusion-upscaler-for-automatic1111 tiled vae should could be compatible with 1.4.0

make sure all extensions are up to date or try to clean install if you haven't, maybe something is not updated properly
