Opening the app after a long time often opens to an unexpected place

When opening BB after having not used the app recently, it often opens to an old chat thread. This happens when I tap a notification from my wife expecting the app to open to the text thread with my wife but it instead opens to a chat from earlier in the day or the day before.

Same thing happens when I try to share an image from another app. I can choose the recipient I want to send to on the share sheet, then when BB opens, the shared content is gone and I'm on the old thread again.

Force stopping and clearing the cache solves the problem temporarily but it always returns.

It seems to me like the app is restoring some old state after it has been in the background for a while. But it does this even if I'm opening the app from the share sheet or from a notification which I wouldn't expect.
