Feature: UX improvements

We did a UX review with our UX team, I will share with you what came out of it along with some priorities (to be discussed !) on each element. P1 = Most important, P2 = Important but we can live without it, P3 = Nice to have

I'd also like to say that nothing struck our team as a outright bad UX practices, so even if we have a lot of improvement suggestions, no need to worry 🙂

• General

  • Visual: Change Username button layout #783
  • Grids with no elements should have an empty state with a message informing the user that there is no data to show. With no message, the user can expect content to still be loading or that there has been an error preventing data to arrive (P2)
  • Grids should always be displayed while data is loading => Add the loader animation in the grid instead of displaying the grid after the data has been retrieved (P2)
  • Remove duplicate section titles in content areas #617
  • UX: Make elements clickable in the whole line #785
  • List : Add a vertical button for actions in items. #786
  • "Save" buttons should never be on the right side of the screen, always on the left or centered (P2) Task: Visual changes on device details #425

• Menu

• Devices list

  • Task: Rearrange "+" buttons in list screens #421
  • Pagination should be handled server-side, not client-side (P1)

  • Task: Change visualization of device status #422

• Device details

  • Task: Move "Connect" button under the image #423
  • Add a button to go back to the list "left arrow" #614

  • Remove tabs, use collapsible cards instead (fixes the previous point) (P2)
  • Rename "Status" to "Allowed" (clearer to the end user) (P3) tracked in Task: Visual changes on device details #425
  • Task: Change the toggle to a checkbox: Toggles are meant for options which are saved directly without the need to click a save button (P2) #485
  • Task: display Device name instead of device id #424
  • Keep the left column static/always visible, only the right column should be scrollable #615

• Device creation

  • Have a choice between "Save", "Save and Duplicate", "Save and add new" for users who will need to create a lot of devices  #616
