CyberSeminar Dates (suggested)

January 10

January 17

January 24

January 31

February 7

February 14

February 21

February 28

This would give a three week break before Waterhackweek.

We could possibly reserve the time slot and if people wanted to do Case Study seminars that describe/pitch projects, we could do that in the March 7, 14, 21 if participants volunteer to do it (and it is not additional work for us).

Please see below for our details on the Cyberseminars. We proposed to use CUAHSI in order to make the project more widely distributed.
Cyberseminars | Education | CUAHSI - Universities Allied for Water
Search the cyberseminar archive here. Cyberseminars are listed by date and talk title. You can browse by date or presenter as well as search by keyword.

You can also view the videos on CUAHSI's YouTube channel.

CUAHSI will handle logistics and publication, we just need to get the instructors to the recording. I hope it will be cross-linked on Freshwater website and eScience. Let's get this info to Julia when it's ready.

Anthony,

The timing for the cyber-training will work (i.e. Jan - early Mar). We need to tell Liz the specific dates, times, and length of each presentation.
Liz needs to know how many total participants (including instructors) we plan to have. This is necessary because we have licenses on two platforms, each has limit on number of participants.
gotoTraining (max 50 people) supports participant interaction (i.e. voice enabled) and breakout groups. This is what CUAHSI uses for the virtual university program.
gotoWebinar (max 500 people), participants are muted but can interact through the chat. This is what CUAHSI uses for cyber-seminars.
Do we plan to have a survey? If so, Liz can give us an example from past trainings.
We can use CUAHSI’s software license for Canvas to host the content for the cyber-training.
A couple weeks before the first cyber training, we’ll schedule a kickoff meeting with Liz to answer any questions and familiarize presenters with the software.
Give Liz a description/overview of the cyber-training course, along with student requirements (e.g. must be familiar with Python), instructor bios, and instructor headshots.

@ChristinaB @NCristea let me know if you had a chance to meet yet to generate a list of potential instructors and then I can help coordinate.

  • Schedule kick off meeting - Rachel

  • Plan post-seminar survey with Liz and Veronica

  • Email leaders and teams on each of the 8 seminars - Nicoleta + Rachel

  • Assign dates, verify with leaders/teams

  • Needed from 8 instructors to give to Liz:

  1. Seminar series description - Anthony (from NSF proposal)
  2. Give 300-400 words description/overview of the cyber-training course
  3. Student requirements (e.g. must be familiar with Python)
  4. Instructor bios and instructor headshots.
  5. Bonus - photo for promoting seminar and any other details that Julia can use to promote on social media and freshwater.uw.edu

  • Email Anthony and instructors with request for list above. Make Google doc for them to dump and edit their contributions.
