Support "preferred" Configuration Branches

Expected Behavior

I want to find myself in a specific branch after every login, but I do not want to be forced into this branch. Use-case: administrators who want to do all their changes in a branch, while still being able to switch to other branches or to the main configuration branch.

Current Behavior

This is not possible. You can either have access to the all branches, and work in the main configuration branch - or you can lock yourself into a specific branch.
