<h2>Past Meetups</h2>
<p>
<a href="http://imgur.com/oLyFqB8"><img src="http://i.imgur.com/oLyFqB8.jpg" title="Hosted by imgur.com" /></a>
<em>The crowd gathers to listen to Jacob's talk at MelbDjango 1.3</em>
</p>
<p>
<strong>1.3</strong>:
First up was Jacob talking us through reusable apps in Django by showing us how he build <a href="https://github.com/hzy/django-polarize">django-polarize</a>.
Colin & David took us down the Javascript path with <a href="http://slides.com/colinrolfe/angular/">their talk about the ways Django & Angular can work together</a> to create great applications.
And then Jon <a href="http://slides.com/jonhuber/deck/">set fire to a Django codebase</a> in order to refactor and improve it - showing us a few things not to do but also that it's always possible to get back to solid ground.
</p>
<p>
<strong>Special Event</strong>:
On August 7th Django core developer <a href="https://twitter.com/andrewgodwin">Andrew Godwin</a> dropped by the Code Shop to present his talk <em>Django's Migrations: A Retrospective</em> to an enthusiastic crowd of Django & Python developers.
Andrew is the creator of South and implemented the migrations feature of Django 1.7.
</p>
<p>
<strong>1.2</strong>:
Lightning talks, oh my! 10 amazing speakers in less than two hours, here's links to the ones that are available!
<br/><br/>
Gaurav took us through <a href="http://slides.com/gvrv/python-web-scraping-102">ripping content with requests and beautifulsoup</a>.
Jacob introduced us to using bower for managing our javascript dependencies [<a href="http://cl.ly/462D1b2E2T0T">PDF</a>].
Justin has been using <a href="http://slides.com/justinarulnathan/data-imports#/">.using() for data migrations</a>.
Anthony spent some time convincing us that doing <a href="https://class.stanford.edu/courses/Engineering/db/2014_1/about">Databases 101 from Stanford</a> was a great idea (it is!).
<br/><br/>
Jon takes us through how he's <a href="http://slides.com/jonhuber/django-settings#/">using YAML files to manage settings for a large platform</a>.
Dan gave us his <a href="http://slides.com/eedeep/five-sticks-of-celery#/">five "pro-tips" for using Celery</a>.
Michael showed of his <a href="https://github.com/mbylstra/django-wham">django-wham</a> project for navigating REST APIs.
Plus (no slides, sorry!) - Darren & Daryl introduced their Django school, Chris showed us some of the "worst" things about Django and Curtis showed us how RPC is an alternative to REST.
</p>
<p>
<strong>1.1</strong>:
We made cheese!
Jonathan Moss showed us how Django is influencing his cheese (yes, literal cheese) making process, including a live demo and grilled halloumi.
Plus Nam Ngo showed us <a href="http://slides.com/geeknam/learning-design-patterns-from-django/">how to utilise some of the more interesting Django design patterns</a> in our own code.
</p>
<p>
<strong>1.0</strong>:
Our 12th meetup (and one year anniversary!) was held on May 8th, 2014. With sponsorship from both <a href="https://commoncode.com.au">Common Code</a> & <a href="http://gizmag.com">Gizmag</a>!

Brenton spoke about some of the upcoming features in <a href="https://brntn.me/melbdjango-1-0.html">Django 1.7</a>,
and Sebastian made us all very jealous of his <a href="http://www.roadside-developer.com/talks/2014-05-07_PyCon.US_Summary/#/">PyCon US adventure</a>.
</p>
<p>
<strong>0.11</strong>:

After a little bit of a rough start, Brenton gave a demo of <a href="http://slides.com/brntn/darkside">deploying Django application with Windows Azure</a>. Turns out that it's not particularly difficult, but also not advisable.
</p>

</p>
<p>
