Desired HTML output

Strikethrough elements are using <s>. This element has some accessibility concerns that may be covered using CSS.

It is not really a semantic element, and my intended usage for this is more of an ironic nature. However, I do want this.

Also relevant

While <s> is a (pure) formatting element, there is also the <del> which offers the possibility to add more semantic meaning (e.g. while updating an existing article with new facts that make some of the article's content obsolete).
