Apart from that, I get a lot of diff on open source code.

I picture can describe more than words so I follow that one. but anyway

The problem is that using graphhopper code build the graph for Malta country and then compare with graphhopper map between two points. Some time goes too much diff.
In the screenshots you see clearly also path is going diff.
Which means there is something.
Actually, I also tried speed region[Of this repo] for that but I did not see any diff to improve to close.
Also compare all OSM, Google map, yahoo map. It way much diff forms localhost map.
I think now is the more descriptive question. If you still want to close issue then it your choice.
