A wholistic . . .

“Wholistic” is not correct. It should be holistic.

Explanation: This may have seemed correct at first glance because holistic and whole have similar meanings, but wholistic is no more a word than is “mischievious” (the combination of mischievous and devious) or inveigle when you pronounce it with the FACE vowel instead of the FLEECE vowel because you’ve combined inveigle with finagle.

please don't fix this

I type 'wholi' into my brave search bar autocomplete, easiest way to quickly get to the index github page

I just noticed that the main page's About also lists this mistake at the upper right.

This state of affairs—its going on for multiple years—should embarrass someone. I feel too much second-hand shame to praise this project or refer people here.

Dictionaries exist, and even the crummiest spellcheck is built into browsers or just a quick Google search away.

In what other ways do the contributors have such sloppiness? is all I can wonder. (And indeed, the formalization of podcast:block at only the channel level illustrates bad habits.)

At least I am bothering to point out the errors to fix. The alternative is to slap on a friendly smile, say nothing if I have nothing nice to say, and quietly hope for this project’s irrelevance and abandonment. (The only things about this endeavor that have ever gotten traction are podcast:chapters and podcast:transcriptions—a fact that you may have observed.)

To leave on a friendlier, warmer note: Enjoy your hobby; I am glad you are having fun.

Hi, JJ - thanks for your comments.

In fact, a quick Google search, had you done one, would have led you to this article by Miriam-Webster on the slightly different emphasis that "wholistic" has, versus "holistic". It highlights the wholeness - the fact that we all work on this together. Language is important when you use it correctly.

The formalisation of podcast:block only at the channel level reflects the current use of blocking in podcasting. You'd be welcome to work on this with us, and propose its valid use at the item level. We are, after all, a wholistic RSS namespace - even people who have only made one Github comment in the last eleven months are welcome to your say.

Finally, thank you for pointing out the good traction that two of those tags have achieved. That, of course, makes the project more successful than any other piece of work in the podcast space in the last twenty years, excepting the work Apple has done.

To leave on a friendly, warmer note: Mirriam-Webster contains lots of helpful, Anglo-Saxon words to describe people like you.
