Settings Issues #417

@vertigo220 On my computer, there's an indicator on the active button/tab: |

First of all, not sure what GitHub's deal is, but when I posted that, the image was an animated gif, showing how the scrollbar was taking a few seconds to show/hide, making it unusable due to the fairly substantial delay. No idea why it's now a static image (well, GitHub is Microsoft, possibly the most incompetent company ever, so that's probably why). But that was the main issue I was reporting. As for the navigation issue and the indicator, I do in fact have an indicator (it may have just been cut off in the image; after all, as mentioned, the image isn't even what I originally posted). But even with that, it wouldn't be, and isn't, helpful, because once you switch from the home/main page, it won't show on the home icon anymore, so it becomes moot. Not to mention it's so subtle (more so on my computer than yours due to color schemes I presume) that it wouldn't really help anyway. As I said, IMO, having it down in the corner like that doesn't make sense. It's out of place and makes it harder to realize it's just another settings page, the main one, in fact. And as I said, the main page should generally be the top/first icon, not the last, and certainly not all on its own off in another corner. |
I never thought about it that way. There’s something to what you’re saying. I’ll take it into consideration if I get the chance to work on improving the settings interface. Thank you. |
Might just be me, as Windows can get goofy on me, but I'm having a problem with a pretty major delay in the showing and hiding of the scroll bar in settings:
Also, and this is somewhat ties into #399, and I was debating whether to include it with that, but the settings layout is a bit confusing. When you open it, it takes you to the screen associated with the home icon on the bottom-left, which is odd as typically you'd expect the main screen you're taken to when opening it to be the top one, i.e. the gear icon. And when clicking on another icon to explore the settings, it can result (and did, for me) in spending some time trying to find your way back to the main screen you were on initially, since it's way down in the corner, not immediately visible and looking like something unrelated. I think the best solution would be to simply move the home icon up to the top, above the gear icon.
