Versions

  • Thunderbird 78.9.1 (64-Bit) on Windows 10 1909
  • Clippings 6.0b3 (manually downloaded XPI file)

Prerequisites

Clippings 6 hasn't been installed before in Thunderbird, Clippings 5.7 is still installed, however deactivated by Thunderbird due to compatibility reasons. (Don't know if latter information has any impact.)

Symptoms

After manually installing the XPI file via the Add-ons Manager in Thunderbird, Clippings is not available right away. However, after a restart of Thunderbird, Clippings can be used.

Expected Behavior

After installation, either Clippings is available right away or a restart note is shown.

This is an unsupported upgrade scenario -- stable releases of Clippings do not automatically upgrade to beta versions.

When Clippings for Thunderbird 6.0 is released, it will be available for automatic upgrade for users with an older version installed and have upgraded Thunderbird to version 78.
