Hi,
Today I installed the new Clippings 6 for thunderbird, upgrading from the previous version which was only working on older versions of Thunderbird.
Clippings does not work: I get an error "Coppings Migration Status: Sorry an error occured while Clippings was trying to migrate your data" with the options to "Save Clippings" or "Close".
The "Save Clippings" option seems to do nothing at all. I cannot do anything else, not even import for instance an older backup.
Windows 10, Thunderbird 78.10.0 32 bits, Clippings 6.0 26 April 2021 update.
Thanks

I suspect that this is due to file permissions issues. There have been reports of similar issues when the old data source backup folder was changed in past versions of Thunderbird.

If you still have Thunderbird running, could you copy the error log messages from Thunderbird and paste that here? It can be found in the error console (click the Thunderbird menu, then select Tools -> Developer Tools -> Error Console).

To reinstall the new version and restore your Clippings data, do the following:

  1. Open the folder where the Clippings 5.x data source is located. By default, this would be your Thunderbird profile folder, unless it was changed in Clippings options.
  2. Look for the file named "clippings.json" and copy that to another location, e.g. the Desktop.
  3. Uninstall Clippings for Thunderbird, then restart Thunderbird
  4. Download and install a fresh copy of Clippings for Thunderbird 6.0, then once it's installed, open Clippings Manager and import the file from step 2.
