December 2-15, 2024 in Darker: Flynt config fixes and formatting enhancements

Our flynt integration is now complete with the merged configuration fix (#746) that properly includes flynt options in DarkerConfig. The update resolves a reported issue (#745) where flynt configuration in pyproject.toml was failing validation.

A new feature request (#778) proposes allowing format-in-place when working with revisions up to HEAD, sparking discussion about workflow improvements.

Several dependency updates are in progress through Dependabot, including major version bumps for pytest (8.3.4), twine (6.0.1), and flynt (1.0.1). The flynt update notably brings better handling of string joins and escaped unicode characters, while dropping Python 3.7 support and moving to AST-based parsing for percent and format expressions.
