+1 it's sad to see this project got abandoned @before , can you please add more contributors to this project? |

FYI: https://github.com/woothee/woothee |
@erikvanoosten the issue is that the data source is no longer open source ($50/month for data access I believe). At least that seems to be why @before gave up on the project (which I agree is the best of its kind on the jvm). There's always client-side browser detection but it's nice to be able to do so statically server-side. |
im not familiar with software license but is it OK to duplicate this repository and go from there? (e.g. change the group and publish to maven under a different name?) |
According to https://github.com/before/uadetector/blob/master/LICENSE.txt this should be possible. However, as long as this project does not refer to the fork, it will take a long time before other people will find the it. |
Thanks @godenji . That is good information. It would be great if that information appeared in the readme. |
I'm open to hand over this project to some other folks. Please let me know who is interested. |
@before I can step in for awhile, at least to push out another release with latest widely used user-agents in place. I work in Scala + SBT + Sonatype; Maven + Java isn't my strong suit. A couple of years ago I tried upgrading the project to Java 8 but tests started failing. Anyway, don't want to take too much of your time, but if you have build steps/guideline handy please send along. Thanks |
@godenji I just used a JDK 7 and default maven commands to build, test and package the code. You can always ask me when stepping into issues. I'm too busy with other projects and this one is not relevant to me since a while. |
@before the simplest way for the community to contribute would be if you could just convert this project to a GitHub "org". |
Dear André Rouél,
This seems to be the best project for user agent detection in the JVM space. However, its getting to show its age. Could you please look through the list of contributors or fork owners and approach those you might trust to become contributors of this project?
Thanks! It would greatly help a lot of people.
