Version 1.1.3 didn't have this issue.
I found similar discussion about different project here
Tested on Windows 10

Edit: #16 is exactly what happens, but starting with 1.1.4. Maybe his issue is related to this too.

Hi, thanks for the report!

To make sure I understand this (before I have an opportunity to do a test on Windows), you're extracting a portable gsmartcontrol package to path containing a directory named "bin" as one of its components, and gsmartcontrol crashes when you double-click a drive?

Yes, exactly. The path is C:\bin\gsmartcontrol
