Cloudformation failure

I'm trying to test this workshop, but the Cloudformation deployment in us-east1 fails with a "Custom Resource failed to stabilize in expected time" error for the LoadSampleData custom resource.

I've been able to reproduce the issue and I'm having trouble diagnosing the problem.

The Lambda is created and executes but fails during a copy operation. This is why the stack fails.

Is there a fix for this? I'm trying to deploy this workshop and seeing the same issue.
