$ aws s3  ls s3://com-simple-dev/  --recursive
Unknown options: --recursive                          
$ aws --version
aws-cli/1.2.9 Python/2.7.5 Darwin/13.0.0

the documents state that this is supported, however I don't see any example usage so it's hard for me to know

Duplicate of #465

This is a known issue and will be addressed in a future release.
