Should license be GPL for poppler-simple ?

I've made a POC with poppler-simple and it works well, many thanks !

Although, I'm concerned about the license:

The poppler project is itself released under GPL as they say explicitly in their README:

Note that Poppler is licensed under the GPL, not the LGPL, so programs which call Poppler must be licensed under the GPL as well.

If I read correctly, poppler-simple should also be licensed as GPL, isn't it ?
