Context

Based on explorations in #4808

Potential opportunities

To enable the design of better forms for end users filling them out we might consider creating guidance or pointing to existing guidance / best practice around:

  • Only asking what is necessary (question protocol)
  • Asking one thing per page (see GDS standard)
  • Writing good questions (deep dive into specific patterns if you must ask for X)
  • Optimizing labels and hint text (what is most clear and useful)
  • Labelling required fields (how to decide)
  • Improving data validation
  • Customizing error messages
