Modify Workflow of an Instance

I have a question about workflow-core / conductor. We have a use case from a customer that needs the ability to edit a running process instance / wokrflow instance and to possibly "attach" additional activities or commands to it. Is it possible / intended in workflow-core / conductor that you can map this scenario? Thanks in advance for your help.
