CAPTCHA for E-Mail List Sign-up form

We are using the RSVP E-Mail List Sign-up block to enable a general newsletter for our event series. It seems it's not possible to use the (internal) CAPTCHA there that is offered for event sign-up. Did I overlook something or is this form completely missing spam protection?

Furthermore it would be good to have a direct confirmation after sign-up, something like "Form sent – thank you!"
