Reported by our test team, interaction with the digital pointer tool caused the application to lock up. The only way to recover was to restart the device.

Steps:

  1. Tap on ATAK menu on the top right screen and tap on Digital Pointer.
  2. Choose a digital pointer.
  3. Observe that ATAK screen is frozen. [PROBLEM]
  4. Press and hold sleep/wake up button to exit ATAK screen.
  5. Drop down the notification bar and tap on ATAK.
  6. Observe that screen is black. [PROBLEM]

ATAK v4.5.1.13
Device: MSI APX NEXT Android 13 (API 33)

From the logcat I found this message when the UI became unresponsive:

12-04 16:23:50.965 W/InputDispatcher( 1359): Not sending touch gesture to e4cffe6 ActivityRecordInputSink com.atakmap.app.civ/com.atakmap.app.ATAKActivity because it is not responsive

Prior to using digital pointer tools the tester said they were sharing data packages and were able to share successfully, then when they tried to use the digital pointer tool it didn't work. The issue was a one time occurrence and the tester was not able to reproduce it after restarting the device.

Can you verify if this is still a problem with 4.10 on the playstore?

Hi Shawn, no we have never seen this issue on the 4.10 version nor any other playstore version, it was a one time occurrence on 4.5.1.13. This issue was a bit unusual because it did not eventually lead to an ANR but the UI simply stopped responding to touch events. Just curious if you had ever seen anything like that.

Ah -no nothing like that. Thanks for the report.
