The mosquitto.conf man page and mosquitto.conf sample file both make heavy use of auth_plugin and auth_opt_* directives. However the Dynamic security plugin page uses the plugin and plugin_opt_* forms.

It turns out that both are accepted.

Probably:

  • Both should be documented
  • auth_* forms should be marked as deprecated?
  • auth_* forms in existing docs should be converted to plugin_* forms
