Steps to reproduce

Attempting to click on a highlighted room alias in the new topic dialog (matrix-org/matrix-react-sdk#8517) does nothing.

  1. Join or create a room with a topic containing a room alias.
  2. Clicking on that alias without opening the topic dialog works fine
  3. Open the topic dialog by clicking on something other than a link in the topic.
  4. Attempt to click on a room alias. Find nothing happens.

Regular http(s):// links do correctly open the browser.

Outcome

Upon clicking a room alias in the topic dialog, I receive the following in my JS console:

Routing URL vector://vector/webapp/#dev:grapheneos.org
Ignoring showScreen for 'ev:grapheneos.org'

What did you expect?

To be taken to the room / a page asking me to join the room.

What happened instead?

nix, nada, null, naught, zero, zilch, zip, zippo, nothing, goose egg
