This is a lot of work, so you may decide it is not worth it or a long-term goal, but this would be really powerful:
in syllabus page within WP include a "check for updates" button which looks for content in the github version not in the WP version.
if changes are found provide a link to a diff between them,
and an option to replace the WP version with the github version
this would require you to convert md back into whatever wp uses on backend
Advantages: If the syllabi actually get used/forked/ and accept pull requests on the github end, a user will likely want to easily re-incorporate those changes made through the community back into their wordpress doc.
