Crash while retrieving captcha-protected PDF on wayland

I'm encountering a bug while retrieving the PDFs from OA articles on https://www.sciencedirect.com
Zotero crashes while trying to open a browser popup to load the captcha of SD that wants to check that I'm human (I won't comment on that).

As for #165 the current workaround is to use Flatseal to disable the wayland windowing system (cf. this comment). This workaround obviously does not prevent Zotero from starting on Wayland.
