Serial Monitor abnormalities #11

I have found the serial monitor to not work, at least for my needs.

Identified issues:

Cannot set baud rate (serial port speed)
Serial monitor parser/receiver expects values to always be separated by newlines, while a continuous / no line break stream is still completely valid communication.

These are both addressed in PR #9
