The workflow for collecting peer review publication data only at UWaterloo is as follows:
The GWF Secretariat initiates the process by consolidating Excel sheets for each reporting year using the annual reports from each project. These sheets contain information about peer-reviewed publications from WLU, McMaster, USask, and UWaterloo led projects. This consolidated Excel sheet was shared with UWaterloo CS team.
In addition, we performed (and still doing so) manual quality control (QC) checks on these consolidated excel sheets (e.g., find PID, ensure that links were working, remove duplicates or publication that is still in preparation or in review etc by cross-referencing with the separate annual reports provided by Secretariat.
WLU did QC publications from WLU led projects. Others were encouraged to do the same.
At UWaterloo, our CS team have adapted the ACL Anthology (Association for Computational Linguistics Anthology) Standard for this publication tool. Using standards always helps with workflow and metadata interoperability among systems.
Only publications with a persistent identifier (PID) are integrated, and so by using only the DOI alone all associated metadata (including authors' names, abstracts, and more), is automatically harvested and then displayed on the site.
Is Bhaleka, Morteza, others working on matching WLUs publications/metadata in the uwaterloo system? Also what about MMU, anything on that front?
