when i try the command channel_list or set_phone_number, i get this error:
FAIL: 71: RPC_CALL_FAIL 401: AUTH_KEY_UNREGISTERED

i had this issue in the snap version, so i decided to compile the program myself, unfortunately the same error shows up again.
i tried to google it out, and couldn't find the fix.

i'm running linux mint 19.3

the web version is working for me, no issues.

No.
i dont think that's the problem, because the program didn't ask me for a phone number when i ran it the first time.

another thing i should note about:
i tried the program on my phone using termux, same thing happend.
