My dream is for the Team to build it as a FlatPak. Then, it would work in most distros of Linux.

This might or might not be possible. There are at least two flatpak packages that implement an ibus engine (PMIM and FuriganaPad), so it might be possible, but there's also flatpak/flatpak#3019 which suggests it might not be possible.
