This change broke libevhtp and some other packages.

Is this removal intended?

It was intended.
But if you pass --enable-posix-api=yes as an argument to the configure script, I think it will be the same as before.

On some platforms, the POSIX API conflicts with the original one and terminates abnormally, so I couldn't think of any other way to remove it.
