In the Windows installation instructions, it specifies that Mapnik is required for vector tiles. However, on the main README.md, PGRestAPI specifies that Mapbox vector tiles are used, which are different from Mapnik tiles.

So, is Mapnik required for PGRestAPI to create Mapbox vector tiles from a PostGIS database on the fly?

Hi - I'm no longer working on this project. However, Mapnik does output a vector tile format that is based on the Mapbox vector tile specification: https://github.com/mapbox/mapnik-vector-tile

So, yes, you'll need Mapnik to create the vector tiles.

Again, this project isn't maintained, so you might be better off with a more actively maintained project.
