I would support this. Have you tried to reach @lukas-w directly, so that we could avoid a fork? Maybe he can at least give someone maintainer status who wants to keep the original project alive. |
Well, my interest is only to pull font-logos into Nerd Fonts ;-) and then duplicates would not be needed. And I wanted to mention that working with Lukas was always a pleasure and I miss him. (Just noticed that the gh-pages is out of sync, sigh) |
I'm really sorry for being so absent. Life (read: health) hasn't been easy on me for a while and likely won't be for another while. So many times I've meant to reply, but I always get lost in the noise and forget. Apologies. @Finii I'd be more than happy to give you or someone else push access to help this project progress. Not expecting any commitment to actively maintaining it, but right now there's zero maintenance so anything's better than the current state. To get on-topic about adding more logos: Bring them on! As far as I'm concerned anything goes as long the logos are representing established, preferably open-source, projects that don't have the malice and money to sue me to death for including their logo. :) I just won't have the capacity for review or maintenance any time soon, so any help with that would be appreciated. |
I would rather push myself to the back of the queue; but I can help out a bit. 🙈 |
Hi, I didn't do it to avoid being pushy, I mean if he didn't reply before it's because probably it's been busy... and yes I also prefer to not move the project to a fork
I don't think so, all logos I added was expecting them to arrive to Nerd Font =)
Things like that happens, don't worry about the project, I hope you get better soon. Also I would be happy to help moving the project forward either contributing logos or even merging PRs. Also when logos are merged making PRs to projects like the ones I mentioned before to properly make use of them. Greetings |
The font was originally created for https://lmms.io/download (See "Other options") and at some point I've discovered that Linode use it in their VM OS selection dialog. JSDelivr shows 800k requests a month so someone must be using it 🤷 Come to think of it, that use case may benefit from a OS-only or Linux-OS-only subset release of the font in case it grows significantly. @Finii @hasecilu I've invited you both as collaborators. Feel free help as little or as much as you like - no pressure :) I'll be |
@lukas-w Thanks for the confidence is me/us. :-) Promise to continue with caution. The circumstances you describe above do need some closer consideration I guess. Thanks again! Fini |
Hi, @lukas-w thanks for trusting on us to help you/all to continue improving this project =)
Nice, it would be cool it some of the standalone-users share their use case, maybe those hosting providers that offer preconfigured enviroments, I could think of Weblate as an example but I'm more into desktop. I'll work on those new logos to merge them asap, greetings! |
I guess we can close this now. |
As of now
font-logos
contains 48 glyphs, mostly Linux distributions but as stated:Right now counting all open PR there are 35 new logos, most of them are Linux distros, DE & WM (#93). Also I added Neovim (that incredibly is not on Nerd Fonts), X.org, Wayland. Expected new total: 83 logos
But still I think we should add more open source projects related logos to have more diversity.
The range of
font-logos
is fromU+F300
toU+F3FF
meaning 256 codepoints, so there can be added a lot of logos. Some usage examples are:
ls
replacement can use glyphs to identify files given their extension and directories.git
one. Also Add Codeberg Logo #94 takes care of codeberg.orgApart from all open PRs I was thinking on other open source projects/organizations:
PlatformIO (would be duplicated)VLC (would be duplicated)Org mode (would be duplicated)Kodi (would be duplicated)Mastodon (would be duplicated)Godot (would be duplicated)Blender (would be duplicated)Also I noted that some OSS logos (firefox, gnome, etc) are already in other fonts, should we duplicate them here?
Anyone has more ideas/comments?
