I'd like to highlight some places where working in the open is possible.

It's challenging though, because this takes many different forms, and I'm not sure what's valuable to highlight.

I'm not sure if this is a good idea to add/if it can provide a useful stable-ish signal that is not ambiguous. As you pointed out, open source to different people would mean different things. It could mean something from "source-available under OSS license" to "shallow community involvement" to "deep community involvement". There are also big differences between projects where the majority of contributors are from one company vs there are multiple companies in the mix.

As someone who was looking for compiler-adjacent jobs recently, my 2 cents here would be that if someone cares about a specific aspect of OSS, they can get a better signal by looking at their repo and/or forum activity. So I don't think it's that valuable to have some mention of OSS here.

In contrast, I do think having the emoji for internships is useful since internships tend to be seasonal and not every company does a good job at advertising them.
