Enforce letter spacing in editor view

Hi,

This may sound heretical, but I'd like to use a non-monospace font in my editor but have the editor enforce spacing. On the Mac OS Terminal, this is configured as "Character Spacing":

0.65 Character Spacing

0.8 Character Spacing

I found an existing letterSpacing setting in #22979, but it seems to mostly add spacing between existing characters, rather than enforcing the spacing of each character.

Please let me know if this is possible in the rendering API.
