Microsoft Strategy on Custom Scripting and effect on react-script-editor

Dear community,

does someone know Microsoft's strategy regarding Custom Scripting and could elaborate it's affects on the futue-proofness of react-script-editor?

My personal assumption is, that Microsoft is starting to lock down everything related to Custom Scripting in the future to security-harden SPO. That may or may not effect SPFx web parts which load external dependencies.
