If you use the main repo as your origin:

git branch -m master main
git fetch origin
git branch -u origin/main main
git remote set-head origin -a
git remote prune origin

If you use a forked repo as your origin, first sync and rename the branch in the forked repo, then:

git branch -m master main
# repoint upstream
git fetch upstream
git branch -u upstream/main main
git remote set-head upstream -a
git remote prune upstream
# repoint origin
git fetch origin
git branch -u origin/main main
git remote set-head origin -a
git remote prune origin
