Forcing lowercase urls

What

Understanding and exploring methods to force all urls to lowercase in Otter. Seeing if anyone has experience with this?

Why

Feels more uniform and one less thing to worry about if capitalization changes.

Options

• Cloudflare Rules - This is my thought on preferred approach since I am already using Cloudflare with this but it seems like Cloudflare has changed their dashboard and not clear if they still support dynamic transforms like lower(http.request.uri.path)
• NGNIX or APACHE rules - This would work, probably
• Hack code to force this - not sure this will work or is possible
• I do notice there is an option for capitalization setting but had a hard time even understanding what this does after switching it on and off a few times

I'm not sure if you need to worry about that, since An Otter Wiki does not care about captilization when not RETAIN_PAGE_NAME_CASE is enabled.

This means, no matter how you capitalize a link, it will hit the page ... and the page is stored lowercase anyway, e.g.

• https://otterwiki.com/Examples
• https://otterwiki.com/examples
• https://otterwiki.com/eXaMpLeS

will all hit the same page (here the same directory, but is the same for pages).

This refers to RETAIN_PAGE_NAME_CASE? You only need this, when you care about capitalization. This is usually the case when you edit the files locally and git push/pull the changes to the wiki. If you don't need it, ignore the option.

Thanks for the detail here @redimp ... When I toggle off RETAIN_PAGE_NAME_CASE I do, indeed, see the urls resolve when manually changed to lowercase. However, the left sidebar navigation still points me to links that mirror the capitalization of the filename and I would prefer that even if a filename is "New-Page.md" that the url when I click on a link to this page in the sidebar or within a page is just always /new-page/ so it would mirror the forced lowercase I get when I sometimes work with static site gens like Docusaurus or MkDocs or blogs like Wordpress.

If this is not a built in Otter feature then I guess my original alternate options from my post remain -- either server alteration with NGNIX or Apache or Cloudflare?
