Hello everyone,
I am a huge fan of Renovate and use it in my GitLab. I use it on one of the root groups of repos.
The bot is set up to autodiscover all repos in the root group but exclude some foldergroups within asdf (config and misc in this abstraction).

The following command is used to write all relevant repos for a run into a json file before using the same to run the bot:

renovate --autodiscover --autodiscover-filter=asdf/** $RENOVATE_EXTRA_FLAGS --write-discovered-repos=repos-found.json --optimize-for-disabled=true

I tried several ways to exclude the subfolders config and misc:

RENOVATE_EXTRA_FLAGS: "--autodiscover-filter=['!/asdf/config/**','!/asdf/misc/**']"
RENOVATE_EXTRA_FLAGS: "--autodiscover-filter=['asdf/!(config)/**','asdf/!(misc)/**']"
RENOVATE_EXTRA_FLAGS: "--autodiscover-filter=['!asdf/{config,config/**}','!cdp/{misc,misc/**}']"

But the autodiscover always contains all repos inside the repos inside the folder asdf.

I already found several issues but non helped me fix the exclude

• Add autodiscoverExclusions to exclude projects fetched by autodiscoverFilter #21347
• Simpler exclusion pattern when globbing isaacs/minimatch#25
• Autodiscover Filter: re2 fails to parse regex with negative lookahead assertion #16472

To run Renovate I use the latest full Docker image. The debug logs show that the autodiscover filter were recognized but the results show that it didn't work :(

Can you try with config.js to exclude the chance it's related to env escaping?

Are you trying to use a regex pattern, or a glob pattern?

I am open for suggestions, the docs are not super clear on what to do to exclude things and also if its pure regex or the minimatch libs syntax

Awesome link, thank you, I overlooked that one. Then I would like to stay with Glob matching.
I already tried !asdf/config/** and !/asdf/config/** which should have worked according to the docs?

Any pattern which starts with !/ and doesn't end with / will never work. No repo starts with /. !asdf/config/** is correct (glob)
