r.js -convert is not producing any output

Hi I tried to run

r.js -convert ./src/dir ./target/dir

There are js files in commonjs format in ./src/dir. The tool runs without any error / output in general, but after finishing the target dir is still empty.
I am trying to convert the produced dist folder of huozi.js

I just realized that the tool converted the files in place! This is unexpected, as the docs state:

Give it the path to the directory you want to convert and an output directory:
node r.js -convert path/to/commonjs/modules/ path/to/output

Please update the docs. Thanks

I've encountered the same issue, though it looks like you're required to include an output path even though it doesn't work.
