Creating a message
Keep Posted is designed to make it easy to create messages for a variety of circumstances, and give you a structure to follow so you can focus on the content.
All messages are a collection of recorded clips and title cards. The first step to choose a message type that best matches what you're trying to do.
Here are the current message types available in Keep Posted. More will be added in the future.
A discussion preparation message helps meeting attendees get on the same page and prepare for quality conversation in an upcoming meeting.

In a roundtable message, multiple speakers respond to a single question or topic. This template is useful for strcutured meetings and status updates—such as a standup meeting.

Team Q&A messages give the team a chance to say what they want to hear about—before any clips are recorded. The message creator reviews suggested questions as they come in, and chooses which ones to answer.

If you have something specific in mind, you can start with a General message. You will have the option of pre-filling the message with a few randomly suggested topics (with special priority given to topics you've starred in your settings).

The available templates will expand in the near future. Some of the use-cases that will likely be available soon are:
- Project learning / Incident post-mortems
- Icebreakers
Once your message is defined, it's time to start recording your clips. Title cards are automatically generated for each clip, and once you're done recording, all your clips will be combined together into the completed message.
⚠️ Browser support: Keep Posted does not currently work with the desktop version of Safari. It works with Chrome, Firefox, and Edge on the desktop, and Mobile Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android.

8 | Close clip | You can close the clip to return to the main message screen. |
The first time you press the record button, your browser will ask you for permission to access your camera, and possibly your microphone (depending you the browser). You should accept this permission. Should you change your mind and want to revoke permission in the future, you can. Here are links for the supported browsers.

- Chrome—Android
- Mobile Safari—iOS: The way videos are captured on iOS doesn't use the browser camera permission
You may wish to include effects or screen sharing in your messages. While this isn't something Keep Posted directly supports, there are ways to do it. You can use a software camera instead of recording directly through your computer's web camera. There are several options with a variety of features.
Examples that have been tested and are known to work with Keep Posted are:
Keep Posted is optimized for recording from a desktop web browser, but it does work on mobile devices. The interface will be presented differently on mobile, and on iOS the videos are recorded via your camera roll.
Once all your clips have been recorded, you will need to build the completed message before you can share it. You can start the build process from the message detail page. The build process usually takes 2-3 minutes, and once it is completed, the page will refresh to reveal the sharing options.
⚠️ Building a message finalizes it: Be aware that when you build your message, you can no longer go back and edit the clips.
Once your message is built, you have the option of adding a closed captions file so your viewers will have a text representation of the spoken audio, synced in time to the message. Currently, Keep Posted does not have the ability to generate captions from your video, but you can use another service of your choice to generate the captions file, and then attach it to your Keep Posted message.

Once your message has been built, you will see options for sharing your message.
