This support is commented out and possibly wrong. I want to land the patch before it bitrots so I'm leaving a FIXME to write up a proper test.

Triage visit: FIXME is still there. There is currently no assignment operator overloading (removed in a1531ed) pending #5992, so this is entirely dependent on that bug.
