I would like to add custom DNS settings for specific domains for example:
All domains in intranet.componany.local go to 10.42.56.1
Why do you and others need this?:
When using traditional or mesh VPN to access remote servers, we do use a private DNS to resolve internal address in the network, this address have a scope on this private domains. Without this functionality portmaster conflict with remote work.
For example: tailscale.com has a feature called split dns which will delegate DNS queries to specific resolvers ip on specific domains. With that functionality all remote works has access to the internal DNS resolver without conflicting with they default DNS settings.
