Possible to allow managers to view assets assigned to their team?

The functionality exists to assign each user a manager. Can this information be used somehow to allow that manager to login and view all the assets assigned to him/herself and their team, and only those assets? For example, is it possible to configure it such that Manager Andre can see his team's assets, but he cannot see assets assigned to Manager Brenda or Manager Cherlene's people.

I am not seeing anything obvious within group permissions that would facilitate this. If am missing something, my apologies.
