Migrating data from old server to new server

Hello,
We had been running an old version of Snipe-IT (v5.0.7) build from source and have just deployed a new and clean v6.0.14 from Git.
What is the best way to get my existing data migrated over? The import process seems to miss various data items and I obviously don't get any of the check-in out data.
I have created a backup of the old system (using snipeit:backup commands).
I have looked at the online docs, but just wanted to check that the next steps are detailed in https://snipe-it.readme.io/docs/switching-to-a-git-install#6-copy-over-the-necessary-old-files
