As also mentioned in #13889 It seems that the current location is reset to the default location when an asset is edited and not checked out. I do not understand the reasoning behind this. Any advice on how to use the location feature would be greatly appreciated. |

Hi!
We have been using Snipt-IT for a couple of years now and are generally very happy with it. One thing that still puzzles me (and from other threads I assume others too) is the "correct" usage of the location feature.
Here is what we think it does:
For us, the location describes where the object currently is (inside our building). If we move an asset or give it to another user/room, the location changes. Currently I can only do this by auditing the asset. Why is it not possible to just "set" the current location of an asset. If I move it, I don't necessarily check, whether the asset is "ok" (if that's what auditing means).
Another thing that is really problematic for us sometimes: when making changes to an asset (e.g. changing the asset name), the location seems to change from the last audited location to the default location. Why is that? How can we make changes to an asset without having to "audit it to the current location" afterwards?
Sorry if this seems trivial and/or for using the incorrect terminology (I am using a localized version). What is the best way to use the location feature?
