Checked out Assets not displaying under user assets tab

Checked out several assets to a user but I cannot see it assigned to them, when a user logs in they can't see it either.

Am I missing any settings because the checked out assets to the user is not visible when the user is logged in.
No assets on their assets tab

The user had to be set to the same company before the assets were visible. I cannot set the company by default on Synchronized LDAP users.
