"check_elasticache.py --region us-east-1 -i cluster1 -m memory -w 10 -c 5"

This example does not fit this script. You should update your README file like
"check_elasticache.py --region us-east-1 -i cluster1 -m memory -w 85 -c 90"

the only thing you changed is the threshold which is highly subjective.
