Why is there only a slide transition in carousel?

Feature request:

It's odd that the Bootstrap carousel just has a single effect, so it's rather useless.

Please add some different transitions like i.e. fade to the slider.

There are several solutions outside, none of them works reliant because of constant changes in classes between versions. This really should be part of the core.
