I am trying to make a simple 2D drawing of a Pneumatic valve to export it into Inkscape or Illustrator. but some parts are missing when I open them in Illustrator and Inkscape is not able to open the file at all! here is the link to the original and exported DXF file

Sounds like you wanted to export 3D objects in 2D. Also lines can be 3D. If you convert all objects to 2D shapes (click the symbol with the cuboid and the rectangle below), there should be all dwg R12 objects exported. Sorry for late answer but maybe there are some more people having this issue. Maybe, there is a possibility proving the exporter doing this step automatically.
